Formulation and Development of Controlled Drug Delivery of Artemether Using Biopolymer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Artemether (ARTM) under Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS), is a class IV drug, due to its poor water solubility and permeability. It very effective against acute severe forms of falciparum malaria, thus the need improve short half-life. Objective: To enhance dissolution rate ARTM by preparation solid dispersions using solvent evaporation method. Materials method: The dispersion was prepared okra acacia gums as polymers in ratio 1:1 1:5. direct compression method formulation used formulate them coated order control drug release. Formulations were evaluated characterized loading efficiency, flow properties, tablet thickness, weight uniformity, hardness, disintegration time vitro studies on tablets. Result: tablets exhibited range 299.4±0.25 305.7±1.70 mg. Friability ranged from 0.7 1.0% hardness 2.4±0.08 3.7±0.08 Kgf. within 4.42±0.01 5.64±0.02. increased quantity increased, while friability decreased amount increased. content 85.3±0.47 89.1±0.08. Conclusion: These findings suggest that gum carrier, could be viable option for enhancing controlling release ARTM.
